Why we built Konjit

· Yitayal Mesfin, Founder, Konjit

AI can already copy a face. We built Konjit so Ethiopian models decide how theirs is used, and get paid every time it is.

AI image tools can now put anyone's face into an advert in minutes. That is not going away. The question is who decides how a face is used, and who gets paid for it.

For most models in Ethiopia, work means a shoot day: one fee, one set of photos, and very little say over where those photos end up afterwards. Brands, especially smaller ones, often can't afford a full campaign shoot at all.

We built Konjit to change both sides. A model verifies who they are once, with a live selfie and an ID that a person on our team checks by hand. They set their own price for each channel and licence length. Every brief comes to them first, and they approve the finished ad before it runs. If they say no, it doesn't run, and saying no costs them nothing.

Brands get premium campaign images with a real, licensed Ethiopian face, without booking a studio, a crew and a day of travel. Every image is clearly labelled as AI-generated, because a fair system has to be an honest one.

We are starting in Addis Ababa with our founding models, and we are building in Amharic and English from day one. We are not quoting user numbers yet because we don't have them. When we do, we'll publish them here.

Konjit is operated by Saqer Moon FZ-LLC, and kunjit.com is our only official website.
